Safety & Standards

Safety at ValeStays isn’t a policy we ask others to follow — it’s how we run our own buildings. Every apartment in the portfolio is operated by our team, to one standard, checked before every check-in. This page states that standard concretely, so you know exactly what you’re walking into.

One Standard, Our Responsibility

Because we operate every apartment ourselves — housekeeping, maintenance, building staff, and night teams all in-house — the same safety and quality standard applies in every building, every day. There’s no variance between “good hosts and bad hosts”: if a standard on this page isn’t met in your apartment, that’s our failure to fix, and reporting it is never penalised.

Fire & Gas Safety

  • Smoke detectors and fire extinguishers in working condition in every apartment, checked as part of routine inspection.
  • Marked, unobstructed exit routes in every building — shown to you at check-in and posted inside the apartment.
  • Kitchen gas connections checked on a maintenance schedule; gas safety instructions (regulator shut-off, what to do if you smell gas) are in the apartment and on our Emergency Assistance page.
  • Tampering with safety equipment is a serious violation of the Guest Code of Conduct — it protects everyone in the building.

Building Security

  • Staff on-ground at every building, day and night — building managers by day, night-duty staff after hours. Security isn’t a camera feed watched from elsewhere; it’s people present.
  • Functional locks on all apartment entry doors and accessible windows, checked at every pre-check-in inspection.
  • CCTV in common areas only — entrances, corridors, reception areas — never inside apartments, bedrooms, or bathrooms, consistent with our Privacy Policy.
  • Every adult in the building is a registered, ID-verified guest. Government photo ID is mandatory at check-in for all adults, and visitors are registered per the Code of Conduct — so unlike an anonymous short-let, nobody unknown is staying on your floor.

Hygiene & Cleanliness

  • Full professional cleaning between every stay by our own housekeeping team — not per-host discretion: kitchens, bathrooms, and high-touch surfaces (handles, switches, remotes) to a written checklist.
  • Fresh laundered linen and towels for every new stay; scheduled housekeeping during longer stays.
  • Kitchens cleaned and equipment checked between guests — especially important for our medical-stay families cooking daily.
  • Water supply and drinking-water arrangements maintained per building standards.

Maintenance & Utilities

  • In-house maintenance team — electrical, plumbing, appliance, and AC issues handled by our own people, urgent issues prioritised same-day, 24×7 for anything affecting safety or habitability.
  • Power backup in our buildings covering essential supply during outages.
  • Recurring preventive checks — geysers, wiring, gas lines, AC servicing — on schedule, not on complaint.

The Pre-Check-In Inspection

Before every single check-in, the apartment is inspected against a documented checklist: cleanliness, working locks, safety equipment present and functional, all advertised amenities operational, and linen fresh. Your apartment was checked by a person, that day — not “verified” once at listing and forgotten.

Verified Guests, Protected Guests

ID verification at check-in is a legal requirement — but it’s also a safety feature, and we treat it as one. It means every person staying in a ValeStays building is identified and registered, guest records are maintained as required by law (including police reporting where applicable), and our staff know who belongs in the building at all times. Solo travellers and families tell us this matters; we agree.

Safety for Every Kind of Guest

  • Solo and women travellers: staffed buildings day and night, ID-verified neighbours only, functional locks checked before you arrive, and a 24×7 line to people physically nearby — not a call centre. Women’s helpline (1091) and all emergency numbers are posted on our Emergency Assistance page.
  • Families with children: apartments cleaned to checklist between stays, gas and electrical checks on schedule, and staff on-site who know the building.
  • Medical-stay families: hygiene-standard kitchens for daily and dietary cooking, and apartments minutes from Manipal, Venkateshwar, Aakash, and Max — with a team that knows the fastest route to each emergency ward.

Your Part, and Ours

We ask three things of guests: locate exits, extinguisher, and gas shut-off in your first ten minutes; lock up when you leave; and report anything that looks wrong immediately — a loose lock, a beeping detector, a gas smell. Reporting is never penalised, and most reports are fixed the same day. Everything else on this page is ours to deliver.
